Crowdsourcing, a nice article about it

A nice article on crowdsourcing (I guess another word used could be Wiki), and different web sites encompassing these techniques has been written by Dan Kaufman from Australia news agency, The Age.

The article also mentions a website I am heavily involved with, Wikinews. I think it is good that this journalist actually mentioned Wikinews, however I must knit-pick as it states that Wikinews is run by Wikipedia, which is not true, but it is a sister project.

The article mentions the police putting videos and crime footage of crimes onto video sharing sites, mainly YouTube. This technique can reach a far wider audience than giving the footage to all news sites (including Wikinews). I think the New Zealand Police should be get involved in this new venture as the audience reached can be wider than all the New Zealand media outlets combined.
