Offline (updated)

UPDATE: I have decided to stop blogging here and focus my blogging efforts on my new blog, Bird’s Eye News. This blog, however, will not be deleted and all posts will remain because this blog is still attracting visitors.

I now have a new blog about journalism, postings of my articles, etc called Bird’s Eye News. Launched today, the blog starts off with a post about some work experience I completed today.

This blog will still be updated, however, but less often than at current.

Merry Christmas

With Christmas in just a mere four days I would just like to extend a happy holidays to all the readers of this blog.

So, whether you’re are out and about enjoying the festive season or enjoying the sun (for the Southern Hemisphere readers) at home, have a very Merry Christmas.

If you’re going travelling during the holiday break, be sure to stay safe and take care on the road.

Note: updates of this blog with new postings will remain in the same periodic as usual during the rest of the year.

I realise this is quite old, but I still find it very interesting that a major New Zealand newspaper would be taking blog content and putting it on page six.

If only I was syndicated…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Moments ago I finished the last and final book in the famous Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The book was truly awesome. It might have been due to the fact that I wanted to know what happened at the end, or the sheer edge-of-the-seat writing, but I never wanted to stop reading. Even though it did take me one week and a day to finish the book, it was the best book I have ever read, and the fastest I have ever read a book of that size as well.

I won’t give out the ending, as I tried my hardest not to find out what happened. Even ignoring a blog that I knew contained a post about Harry Potter, despite now knowing that it contained no spoilers.

I will miss the Harry Potter series. The only thing that now awaits the Harry Potter fans, who finished the book before I, (I know of people who stayed up all day and night reading, to be among the first to know) is the Harry Potter movies, with two left to be released.

Google your docs

A great service I have just started using is Google Docs (which includes spreadsheet functions).

I mainly started using the document part of Google Docs, because of the easy way I could get other people to look over my work, tell me of any mistakes, or if they had permission, fix it. Along with giving people invitations to your documents, you can also publish them at a Google address and then let everyone look at your work.

Since other people can edit your article, a nice option includes revisions, similar to those used in a wiki’s history. You can see who made a change, and what changes they made to your document.

If you haven’t been using it, but feel like doing so now, you can upload your .txt, .doc, .rtf, .odt, and .sxw.

I haven’t used the spreadsheet functions much, but it looks alright, and can do a simple addition formula.
